THOMAS BERGANDER, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Thomas Bergander, Managing Director of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting GmbH, said:

“We are very pleased to present the Heidestrasse neighborhood to a broad international audience for the first time in Barcelona. Every day, we deal with the question of how new urban quarters should be designed and built with a view to today’s diverse user expectations, but also to those of the future. For this, looking beyond our own horizons is very important. From our participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, we expect new ideas as well as interesting discussions and contacts.”

QUARTIER HEIDESTRASSE

Quartier Heidestrasse, located in the northwestern part of Berlin-Mitte in Europacity, is being developed as a vibrant urban mix of residential, office, commercial, public streets and squares, and green spaces. Cafés, restaurants and mixed-use building complexes create a pleasant, trendy living and working environment. A total of around 268,000 m² of gross floor area (GFA) is planned in the Heidestrasse quarter.

One of the ensembles being built, with more than 100,000 sq. ft. of leasable space, is intended exclusively for modern office use. Last but not least, around 920 apartments are being built in the quarter – 25 percent of them as subsidized housing in the sense of the Berlin model of cooperative building land development.

SMART CITY EXPO WORLD CONGRESS

From November 13 to 15, the Smart City Expo World Congress will take place in Barcelona for the eighth time. The world’s leading trade fair on energy and sustainability, mobility and transportation, urban planning and safety, as well as the parallel congress, will bring together experts from city administrations, international companies, startups, research centers and citizens’ initiatives.

In five different thematic complexes, they explore the question of what will make cities worth living in in the future, how they can be organized innovatively and sustainably, and how, despite all the changes and challenges, people must be at the center of all developments.
