URBAN CENTERPIECE IN THE HEIDESTRASSE QUARTER IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION - TOPPING-OUT CEREMONY FOR QH CORE

Berlin, October 16, 2019. The Heidestrasse neighborhood is growing in height: The topping-out ceremony for QH Core, not far from Berlin’s main train station, was celebrated in the presence of Senate Building Director Regula Lüscher. The quarter is part of Europacity and is one of the largest quarter developments in the capital.

a central location for retail and restaurants, 166 rental apartments and offices is being created.
QH Core has a total of 28,700 square meters of leasable space, including 10,900 square meters of office space and 5,500 square meters for retail and restaurants. There will be 240 parking spaces in a two-story underground garage. QH Core is being built at the future neighborhood square, where numerous pathways intersect. The project is being realized by Taurecon, the developer of state-of-the-art and digital quarters.

QH CORE WITH RED BRICK FACADE

The new building is characterized by a very distinctive red brick facade. The design for the six and nine-story buildings, which will close the street frontage on Heidestraße, comes from the office of ROBERTNEUNTM Architekten. With their clearly structured facades, they lend the ensemble a very striking appearance. The variety of uses, mixing and great liveliness in the QH Core is also clear.

Regula Lüscher, Senate Building Director and State Secretary in the Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing, says on the occasion of the topping-out ceremony: “The Heidestrasse urban quarter is taking more and more shape and as early as next year Berliners will also be living and working in QH Core. At a strategic location within Europacity in terms of urban development, QH Core sets an architecturally striking example with a self-confident design language and interesting programming, thus creating the prerequisite for location-adapted mixes of uses and amenity qualities throughout the urban quarter.”

Thomas Bergander, Managing Director of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting GmbH, emphasizes: “With Quartier Heidestrasse, we are building a very special district, a district of the future. The shell for QH Core was built in just one and a half years, with completion scheduled for 2020. Taurecon has already concluded leases for numerous retail and office spaces: For example, a Rewe supermarket with around 2,400 square meters of sales space will be built. The Association of Private Health Insurers (Verband der Privaten Krankenversicherung e.V.) has leased office space.

SUSTAINABLE AND DIGITAL QUARTIER HEIDESTRASSE

The Heidestrasse quarter is being built on an area of around 8.5 hectares. A total of 159,500 square meters of office and commercial space and around 920 apartments will be built in several phases by 2023. In addition to QH Core, the QH Spring and QH Track subprojects are already under construction.

Quartier Heidestraße GmbH was founded in 2014. The company has set itself the goal of developing the Quartier Heidestrasse project as part of Europacity into a vibrant urban district. In the spirit of the “Berlin mix”, residential and office buildings, commercial areas, public streets and squares are to be built here.
