Berlin, May 18, 2018 – It was a terrific start: Piano prodigy Anastassiya Dranchuk gave a furious concert at the historic Kornversuchsspeicher in Berlin on Thursday evening. With works by Bach, Mozart and Liszt, the pianist enchanted and captivated her audience. The performance at the Granary was the warm-up concert to kick off their world tour.

The concert in the Europacity on Heidestrasse was attended by many prominent figures from society and politics, such as Countess Isa von Hardenberg and Berlin’s Senator of the Interior Andreas Geisel. Anastassiya Dranchuk deliberately titled her very emotional performance “Back in the game”.

Already at the age of 12 she followed the call of the Hochschule für Musik and came from Kazakhstan to Berlin. From here she traveled the world’s concert halls. In the zeal of her global career, she has not always complied with the formalities of the Berlin Foreigners Authority, which revoked her residence permit and passport in the fall of 2016. She has since regained both, and is now back in the world’s great concert halls. The concert in the Grain Test Warehouse is in a series of prominent events with exhibitions, discussions and concerts in this place. The events are held regularly until the beginning of July and will continue in October after careful renovation measures.

The “Kornversuchsspeicher” on the Berlin-Spandauer-Schifffahrtskanal is a unique industrial monument. It was built to secure and improve the supply of grain to Berlin’s rapidly growing population in the second half of the 19th century with new storage and transportation methods. When the Speicher was opened on October 1, 1898, it was a sign of departure, renewal and innovative spirit on the threshold of the 20th century. 120 years later, Adler Real Estate, KauriCab and Taurecon, three companies from the real estate industry are jointly reviving this creative idea of progress and making the widely visible monument in Europacity available as an art lab and space for innovation. The ideas that are being developed in the historic brick building are also intended to shape the spirit of the newly emerging quarters north of the main station beyond this interim use. New spaces are to be designed and events continued in order to jointly lay the foundation for a lively, innovative and widely radiant Europacity, which includes the Wasserstadt Mitte and the Heidestrasse neighborhood.
